Native Skywatchers Educator & Community Summer 2021 Workshop: Indigenous STEM & Wellness - Turtle Island Skywatchers! (ONLINE)

Join us for an exciting, action-packed, two-day livestream event! Leaders at the forefront of Indigenous STEM and Indigenous Astronomy revitalization movements will share their work and perspectives. Topics include relationship to Sky and Earth, Elders’ perspectives, Indigenous education, wellness, community, colonization, youth, leadership, and the Summer night sky!

Presented by…Annette S. Lee and Jeffrey Tibbetts in collaboration with our Indigenous Elders … Carl Gawboy, William Wilson, Wilfred Buck, Nancy Maryboy, David Begay, Will Morin, Janice Bad Moccasin, Ida Downwind, Paul Horne and Arvol Looking Horse.

Indigenous Knowledge Holders/Guest Speakers include: Ramona Kitto Stately, Carola Knockwood, Jim Knutson-Kolodzne, Tom Tomas, Andrea Medina, Chris Canon, Mandy Bayha, Michael Price, Melissa Nelson, and more!

Supporting organizations are Native Skywatchers, Minnesota State Arts Board (MSAB) and Fond du Lac Tribal & Community College (FDLTCC). Funded by Fond du Lac Tribal & Community College - Title III.

Our core framework is “Etuaptumumk” as described by Mi ’kmaw elders:

"Two-Eyed Seeing is learning to see from one eye with the strengths of Indigenous knowledges and ways of knowing, and from the other eye with the strengths of Western knowledges and ways of knowing, and to use both these eyes for the benefit of all."
